Two children, including the elder sister, tragically died while trying to save the younger sister in Mousha village of Mohammadpur upazila of Magura. They died after drowning in a pond near the house on Tuesday morning. This incident has cast a shadow of mourning on the area.
The deceased are Rafia (03) daughter of Aminur Rahman of Mousha village and Raisa (02) daughter of his own brother Alinoor.
According to family sources, on Tuesday 21 July 2026 at 11 am, Rafia and Raisa were playing on the bank of a pond near the house. At one point, little Raisa accidentally fell into the pond. When Rafia jumps into the water to save him, he also drowns.
After realizing the matter, the locals quickly rescued the two children and took them to Mohammadpur Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared them dead.
Locals said that the tragic death of two innocent children at the same time is mourning across Mousha village. The atmosphere of the area became heavy with the cries of family members.
Mohammadpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Abu Ahsan confirmed the death of two children.
Mohammadpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Shamim Ahmed said that a police team has been sent to the scene and the hospital after receiving the information. Preparations are underway to file a wrongful death (UD) case at the police station in this incident.
