BGB has arrested two people along with narcotics in a drive against drug and smuggling in Meherpur Gangni.
They were arrested in a drive called Akhra in the Alam Bazar cemetery of Kazipur upazila on Sunday, October 5, 2025, noon.
The arrested are Junayed Ahmed (23), son of Mangal Mia of Kazipur Buripota village in the upazila, and Sohel Rana (28), son of the late Morjen Ali of Bamondi Nishipur village.
The Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) confirmed this information through a press release around 4 pm on Sunday.
The written press release said that based on specific intelligence information, during a patrol led by JCO-9435 Subedar Shahabuddin, in the area called Akhra of Alam Bazar Cemetery, approximately 1 km inside Bangladesh from the border pillar 146 of Kazipur BOP, Bangladeshi citizens Junaid (23) and Sohel Rana (28) were arrested. During the search, 100 grams of Indian heroin, 10 pieces of Tapentadol tablets and 2 motorcycles were seized from them, with an estimated Caesar value of 6,43,000/= (six lakh forty-three thousand taka), and the absconding accused are Sumon Mia (26) of Karamdi village of the upazila and Manik Mia (28) of Baliaghat village. The written press release further said that the arrested accused have been handed over to Gangni police station along with the motorcycle after filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act.
