The newly elected executive committee of Rajshahi Barendra Press Club for the term of 2025-2027 has been inaugurated.
On Saturday (October 4), at 12 noon, an introduction and discussion meeting of the new committee was held at the Rajshahi Barendra Press Club auditorium.
The newly elected president, general secretary and full executive committee members formally took charge at the event.
Chief Election Commissioner Bangladesh Pratidin and Rajshahi correspondent of Desh TV Kazi Shahed, who was in charge of the election, was present at the event and conveyed his greetings to the newly elected committee.
At the time, he said, “This new committee formed through the election will set an example of unity, professional responsibility and positive leadership in the journalist community of Rajshahi.” Rajshahi Barendra Press Club has already become known as a symbol of unity in Rajshahi. I am hopeful that it will continue this trend and protest against injustice, including realizing the rights of every journalist.
The program was hosted by Mir Tofail Hossain, staff reporter of Daily Bangladesh’s Alo.
Present at the event were Azibar Rahman, editor and publisher of Daily Rajshahi’s Alo, presidium members Abu Kawsar Makhon, Liaqat Hossain, Shahinur Rahman Sona and Al Amin Hossain.
Also present were the newly elected executive committee president Rezaul Karim, senior vice-president Alauddin Mondal, vice-president Sheikh Rahmatullah, general secretary Shamsul Islam, joint general secretary Rakibul Hasan Raki, organizing secretary Mostafizur Rahman Jibon, treasurer Mamunur Rahman, office secretary Sultanul Arefin Khan Nihal, publicity and publication secretary Nazmul Haque, sports and cultural secretary Monowar Hossain, executive members Akhter Hossain Hira, Masud Parvez and Mashiur Rahman, and other members.
The speakers said that journalism is not just a profession – it is a responsibility and commitment to society. Rajshahi Barendra Press Club has been working for a long time to fulfill the professional dignity and social responsibilities of journalists. They expressed hope that this trend will accelerate under the leadership of the new committee.
Newly elected president Rezaul Karim said, “We will work together so that the press club becomes a center of trust not only for journalists but also for the people of the society.” Rajshahi Barendra Press Club will stand by all journalists working in every media outlet in Rajshahi.
General Secretary Shamsul Islam said, “With new enthusiasm and sincerity, we will further accelerate the organizational activities of the club.”
At the end of the program, the inauguration ceremony was completed with floral greetings and lunch for the newly elected committee members.
