Four people have been arrested in a special operation by the Upazila Administration and Narcotics Control Department in Durgapur, Rajshahi. They were arrested in a drive conducted in the old area of the upazila on Tuesday (October 7) morning. Later, Durgapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sabrina Sharmin ordered them to serve various terms of imprisonment and a fine of Tk 100 each in the mobile court.
The convicts are Zillur Rahman (50), son of Munsur of Nandopara village in Durgapur upazila, Sirajul (40), son of Riazul of Kuhar village, Shahidul Islam (31), son of Amir of Mathura in Paba upazila, and Belal Uddin (32), son of late Hossain Mandal of Bara Amgadi. After the joint operation, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sabrina Sharmin said, “We have a team working to control drugs in various places. If there is drug buying and selling anywhere in Durgapur, we will provide all kinds of information to help control it.”
Inspector of Rajshahi District Office (B) Circle of the Narcotics Control Department, Saiful Alam, said, “After being arrested in a special anti-drug operation, they were sent to jail through a mobile court. Those involved in drug consumption and business will be brought under the law soon.” He also said that this operation will continue.
