Thakurgaon expulsion of BNP leader in Haripur

Haripur (Thakurgaon) Correspondent:

Upazila BNP executive member and Union BNP joint general secretary Md. Rejuanul Haque Manik has been expelled from the party on charges of violating organizational discipline and hurting religious sentiments in Haripur of Thakurgaon district.

The expulsion order was announced in a notification signed by District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin on Wednesday (October 1) evening. The notification said that he has been expelled from all party posts and primary membership based on clear evidence of violating organizational discipline.

It is learned that an extended meeting of BNP and Jubo Dal was held on September 27 at Chowrangi High School ground in Dangipara union of Haripur upazila. Although a break was given during the meeting due to prayers at the mosque, the call to prayer for Isha prayers was delayed. This caused dissatisfaction among the worshippers.

The next day, local youth Khalid Hasan protested on Facebook about this. While commenting on his post, Rezwanul Haque Manik referred to the local Al Haramain Mosque as a mosque of a militant organization. He also accused the mosque’s worshippers of following fabricated laws.

When his comment spread on social media, it created widespread anger and tension in the area. In the evening, the situation became heated when the locals took out a protest march. Later, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
