Top leader of the People’s Rights Council and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur left Dhaka for Singapore on Sunday morning for advanced treatment. He boarded a Singapore-bound flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:30 am.
Nur had been suffering from various physical complications for the past few weeks. On the advice of specialist doctors, he decided to seek advanced treatment at modern healthcare centers including Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
Family request and Nur’s statement Before leaving, Nur said in a brief speech to his family members and close political colleagues, “I am taking everyone’s prayers and love. I want to recover quickly and be active again in the movement to achieve people’s rights. Your prayers are my strength.”
Emotional farewell from party supporters Leaders and activists from various levels of the People’s Rights Council arrived at the airport on Saturday night to bid him farewell. Before leaving, milad and munajat were held there. Thousands of supporters are also sending messages of greetings and prayers on social media for his speedy recovery.
Nur’s political role Since being elected as DUCSU VP in 2019, Nurul Haque Nur has become known as one of the main faces of the student rights movement. Later, he became active in national politics by forming the People’s Rights Council. His loud role in favor of human rights, democracy and transparent politics has received a special response among the young society.
As an influential voice in the country’s democratic movement, his soon recovery is considered very important for the party’s future programs and general supporters, political circles believe.
