Four students were injured in a clash over the upazila-level inter-school football match of the 52nd Summer National Sports Competition-2025 in Brahmanpara, Comilla. The incident took place on Sunday (September 21) afternoon at the Dulalpur SM&K High School ground in the upazila.
According to eyewitnesses and school sources, the inter-school football match started at four venues in the upazila since morning. Among them, a fight broke out between the players during the match between Gopalnagar Box Ali Bhuiyan High School and Bejura High School at the Dulalpur venue. At one stage, the situation became heated when supporters entered the field and outsiders attacked.
In this incident, Sajid (13), a ninth-grade student of Gopalnagar High School, Ismail (17) and Anis (15), a tenth-grade student, and Bashir (13), an eighth-grade student of Bejura High School, were injured. The injured were quickly rescued by teachers and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors gave them first aid and sent them home.
Bejura High School Principal Md. Gias Uddin complained, “During the game, when two players got into a fight, some outsiders attacked our players. One of our students was injured.”
On the other hand, Gopalnagar High School Principal Md. Tajul Islam said, “When tension flared up during the game, outsiders attacked three of our students.”
Brahmanpara Upazila Health Complex Emergency Department Doctor Sharmin Akhter said, “The injured students have been given first aid, their condition is not critical.”
Upon receiving the news, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mahmuda Jahan went to the health complex and inquired about the injured students. He said, “The students have been provided with proper medical care. The matter will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.”
