Second death anniversary of late journalist Rabiul Anwar Tomy today

Today (September 18) is the second death anniversary of veteran journalist and founding member of Bangladesh Photojournalist Association (BPJA) Rajshahi branch Rabiul Anwar Tomy.

On this day in 2023, he breathed his last while working in the public relations department of Rajshahi City Corporation.

In his long career, Rabiul Anwar Tomy practiced journalism with dedication and honesty. In addition to working for several national and regional dailies, he also served as a journalist for objective news, highlighting the voices of the masses, and advocating for social justice. His professionalism and sense of responsibility were exemplary for his colleagues.

On the occasion of his death anniversary, a Quran recitation and prayer mahfil were organized at his residence on Wednesday. Food was distributed among orphans.

In addition, various social and professional organizations and fellow journalists have taken up various programs in his memory.

Colleagues said that Rabiul Anwar Tommy was a simple, fearless and responsible journalist. With his death, the journalist community has lost a dedicated comrade.

On behalf of the family, prayers have been offered to everyone for the eternal peace of his soul.

It is worth noting that Rabiul Anwar Tommy joined the Rajshahi City Corporation as a cameraman in 1999. He had been suffering from various complex diseases including stroke for a long time. At the time of his death, he left behind his wife, one child, and numerous relatives and admirers.
