Dhaka Correspondent:
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has reiterated his commitment to build a safe, peaceful and democratic Bangladesh with everyone. He said, “We want peace in the country. We want to build a stable Bangladesh through unity, tolerance and responsibility, not politics of division, conflict and instability.”
Speaking at a public reception held near the capital on Thursday, Tarique Rahman said that the people of the country today want security, justice and assurance of dignity. He also commented that democracy and development are meaningless without the establishment of a safe state system.
Tarique Rahman said, “It is the fundamental responsibility of the state to ensure the security of life and property of every citizen of Bangladesh. A peaceful society is built only through the establishment of freedom of expression, the rule of law and human rights.” He also said that it is natural to have political differences, but everyone must be aware that those differences should never turn into violence or hatred.
Stressing the importance of collective efforts in building the country, the BNP leader said that everyone, regardless of party affiliation, should prioritize the interests of the country and the people. “We want to see a Bangladesh where the youth will have a secure future, women will be able to walk with dignity, and the common man will not have to go door to door to get justice,” he said.
At this time, Tarique Rahman expressed full faith in Allah Almighty and said that only Allah Almighty owns all power. He quoted a verse from the Holy Quran and said, Allah gives power to whomever He wills, and takes power from whomever He wills; He honors whomever He wills, and humiliates whomever He wills. Welfare is in His hands alone. He called on everyone to come forward with morality, patience, and mutual respect for the welfare of the country and the nation.
In his speech, regarding the direction of future politics, Tarique Rahman said that BNP does not believe in the politics of revenge. Rather, the party’s goal is to build an institutional, accountable, and people-oriented state system. Stating that economic progress is not possible without peace and stability, he said that political stability is essential for improving the living standards of the people of the country.
According to political analysts, the message of peace, security and united state formation conveyed in Tarique Rahman’s speech is significant in the current political reality. They believe that through this speech, he has tried to give a message of peaceful and inclusive politics instead of conflict politics.
In addition to leaders and activists of different levels of BNP, people from different classes and professions were present at the event. After the speech, Tarique Rahman called on the leaders and activists present to play a responsible role in the interests of the country and the people.
