The Kalai Upazila administration under Joypurhat district organized various programs to celebrate the great Victory Day on Tuesday, December 16, with due dignity and joyous atmosphere, i.e., with the sunrise, the national flag was hoisted in all government-private, autonomous institutions and privately owned buildings and institutions by their respective office heads, institutions and building owners, and the Victory Day began with a 31-time cannon salute at the Upazila Parishad Central Shahid Minar premises by the OC of Kalai Police Station Rafiqul Islam. After that, the people of all walks of life, including the brave freedom fighter Abdul Matin Sarkar, paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs at the Liberation War Memorial adjacent to the Kalai bus stand and laid wreaths.
At 8 am in the Kalai Government Women’s Degree College grounds, the national flag was officially hoisted by Upazila Executive Officer Shamim Ara at 8:15 am, with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Shaykh Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, the Imam and Khatib of Kalai Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center, and the Gita by Sumir Kundu, an assistant teacher of Kalai Moen Uddin Government High School. He was accompanied by Kalai Police Station OC Rafiqul Islam. After that, the symbol of peace, the pigeons were released in the sky, and UNO Shamim Ara delivered an important speech at the event.

At 8:30 am, students from various educational institutions including Police, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Ansar and VDP, Scouts/Girls Guides, Omar Kindergarten School and Omar Garden Academy, Kakli Shishu Niketan and Sadar High School, Kalai Moen Uddin Government High School, Kalai Government Women’s Degree College and Kalai Degree College participated in a march past, parade, display and rally. At 9:30 am, sports competitions and women’s sports events were held with the participation of students from various educational institutions.
Then, at the said place, under the chairmanship of UNO Shamim Ara and moderated by Upazila Administrative Officer Md. Asaduzzaman Chowdhury and UNO Office ICT Technician SM Tarekul Islam, floral greetings, reception of the family members of the brave freedom fighters and martyrs, and a memorial and discussion meeting on the Liberation War were held at 10 am, after which prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions at the last stage of the program.

After Zuhr/Suvidhamat time, the Pesh Imam and Khatib of Kalai Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center, Shaykh Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, will lead the worshippers of his mosque and the imams of all the related mosques, temples and places of worship in the upazila will offer special prayers and prayers, seeking peace and forgiveness for the souls of the brave martyrs of the Liberation War.
It is known that high-quality food will be served at noon and night on this day, as implemented by the concerned authorities in the hospitals and orphanages of the upazila.
