Chapainawabganj Correspondent:
Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB) has seized 4 USA-made foreign weapons, 24 rounds of bullets and 9 magazines in an operation. In the wake of the shooting of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi on December 12, 53 BGB has increased special patrols, check posts and intelligence surveillance in the border and areas of responsibility.
Recently, 53 BGB learned through intelligence information that miscreants were planning to enter Bangladesh through the Chapainawabganj border area with a large amount of weapons to create a chaotic environment. In continuation of this, under the instructions of higher authorities, Chapainawabganj Battalion under 53 BGB conducted a special operation at a place called Gopalpur, approximately 1 kilometer from the border in the area of responsibility of Manoharpur BOP.
During the operation, when two motorcyclists were asked to stop from a distance, a bag fell while the motorcyclists were running away as fast as they could. BGB patrols recovered the bag that fell from the motorcycle and seized a huge amount of ammunition, including 4 weapons wrapped in black polythene. The criminals are making maximum efforts to bring weapons and ammunition illegally to create a major sabotage situation inside Bangladesh. This operation is being conducted as part of a regular operation to curb smuggling and crime in the Chapainawabganj border area.

53 BGB could not arrest anyone during this operation. BGB is always alert and all our members are committed to their profession and responsibilities. Strict intelligence surveillance and patrolling have been strengthened by BGB in the border area round the clock to prevent arms and ammunition smuggling and prevent the infiltration of criminals.
Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mustafizur Rahman said, “Our round-the-clock operation is continuing to prevent arms smuggling and maintain law and order in the border area. Preparations are underway to hand over the seized arms and ammunition to the concerned police station for further legal action.” Locals expressed relief in this regard and said that criminal activities in the border area will be greatly reduced due to the activities of the BGB.
