S.K. Sagar Mirza worked as a reliable fighter in the media cell of Shajahanpur Upazila BNP during the party’s critical moments. At a time when many titled leaders and activists felt apprehensive about posting on social media, he was vocal in the media without any title, keeping the party’s spirit and faith in front.
S.K. Sagar Mirza said that Upazila BNP President Janata Enamul Haque Shahin stood by him like a banyan tree and gave him courage. During the party’s crisis, he ensured an active presence in all the BNP’s movements and struggles, including hartals and blockades. While conducting the party’s media activities, he had to skip meals many times, his body weight dropped to 50 kg, while his normal weight was 65 kg.
During the days of the movement, he spent the night in other people’s houses due to insecurity. He had irregular sleep due to fear. He said that at that time, attempts were being made to arrest him at the police station level. Sagar Mirza said, “If they had caught me, I might not have seen the sun of freedom today.”
His mother and father gave him courage during this difficult time. His mother said, “In the name of Allah, I leave you, bring victory.” And his father said, “BNP is in our blood—I dedicate you to the motherland.”
He said that without the support of his family, it is impossible to move forward in the political struggle—so he asks everyone for prayers for his parents. As a result of the party’s mass uprising, the movement of students and the general public, the flight of the dictator Sheikh Hasina was ensured and Bangladesh started its journey on the path of democracy anew, he commented.
S.K. Sagar Mirza said that Mr. Enamul Haque Shaheen, Joint General Secretary of District BNP and President of Shajahanpur Upazila BNP, Mr. Anwar Hossain Master, Joint General Secretary of Shajahanpur Upazila BNP and General Secretary of Chupinagar Union BNP, Mr. Ilias Mandal, Vice President of Chopinagar Union BNP, and Nurul Islam, President of Ward No. 3 BNP, played an important role in his political journey.
They took responsibility for his security and political support at all times. Sagar Mirza expressed his gratitude and said,
“I express my sincere gratitude to everyone and wish everyone good health and longevity. At the same time, I ask for your prayers so that I can continue my political journey with honesty and sincerity.”
