Upazila BNP held a joyous procession in Bogra’s Shajahanpur, centering on the news of the verdict in the case filed against Sheikh Hasina. The procession was taken out immediately after the court announced the verdict in the case filed on charges of firing on students and the public. According to BNP leaders, the verdict “established justice for the people of the country”.
On Saturday afternoon, a huge procession led by Upazila BNP President Enamul Haque Shaheen circled the main road of Shajahanpur. A large number of leaders and activists participated in the procession. They called the verdict “a reflection of the long-standing expectations of the country and the people”.
The leaders said, “This verdict has created a new horizon for the victory of democracy and justice” – comments such as these can also be heard in the participants’ speeches.
The procession concluded peacefully after circumambulating the upazila town. Later, in a brief rally, BNP leaders pledged to remain active in the movement to protect people’s rights in the future.
