With favorable weather, fertile soil and the support of the Agriculture Office, a good harvest of vegetables is expected this year.
Farmers are busy cultivating early winter vegetables on the banks of the Halda River in Fatikchhari. Fresh vegetables are currently available in local markets. For example, winter vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, potatoes, radishes, beetroot, brinjal, hybrid peppers, beans and tomatoes are being cultivated extensively in the fertile land of the Halda River char, which is economically profitable for farmers.
Cultivation: Winter vegetables are being cultivated in the vast char areas of the Halda River including Narayanhat, Bhujpur, Harualchhari, Suabil, Sundarpur, Samitierhat, Nazirhat in Fatikchhari Upazila.
Yield: According to the information of the Upazila Agriculture Office, vegetables have been cultivated on about 6,100 hectares of land this season and a good harvest is expected.
Process: Farmers are busy preparing the land, planting seedlings and clearing weeds in the foggy morning.
Benefits: The alluvial soil of the Halda River is very fertile, which results in good vegetable yields.
Market: Fresh vegetables are now readily available in the market and farmers are happy to get good prices.
