Jahangirnagar University celebrates International Accounting Day

‘International Accounting Day 2025’ was celebrated at Jahangirnagar University. On the occasion of the day, a colorful rally was organized by the Faculty of Business Studies, which circumambulated various important places of the University.

After the rally which started at 9:30 am on Monday (November 10), a seminar was held in the seminar room of Zaheer Raihan Auditorium. The Vice-Chancellor of the University was present as the chief guest. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. was present as a special guest. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Sohail Ahmed, and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Abu Saif Md. Muntakimul Bari Chowdhury.

ACCA Bangladesh Country Manager Prema Taapsee Khan, Financial Reporting Council Executive Director Md. participated as speakers in the seminar. Tarek Kamal, Chief Operating Officer of Hosaf Group and Council Member of ICMAB SM Zahir Uddin Haider, SK Mohammad Tariqul Islam, Partner of Huda Bhasi Chowdhury & Co. Chartered Accountants, Prashant Saha, Head of Internal Audit, BRAC, and Shovan Krishna Saha, DGM of Siemens Healthcare.

Tanjila Hossain, President, Department of Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) presided over the function. The convenor of the program and assistant professor Mehdi Hasan along with the teachers and students of the department participated in the various stages of the event throughout the day.

Associate Professor Tanjila Hossain, president of the department, said that International Accounting Day is celebrated on November 10 every year. This day is observed by professionals involved in accounting and information systems department.

Celebrating International Accountancy Day instills a sense of self-esteem and professional identity among students. Universities use the day as an opportunity to highlight the importance of accounting in business, administration and economic development.

Also, the participation of professional bodies like Chartered Accountants (CA), ACCA, CMA – paves the way for students to get internships, job opportunities and practical experience – he said.

University administration and participants said that this day has been organized with the aim of highlighting the modern relevance of accounting, professional ethics and the importance of economic transparency in the digital age.
