Training on “Decentralized Monitoring, Inspection and Evaluation (DMIE)” has been conducted to make the functioning of Village Court more dynamic and transparent at Pirganj of Thakurgaon. This training workshop was organized by the upazila administration at the Upazila Parishad conference room on Saturday (date).
A total of 24 people participated in the training organized under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Rakibul Hasan. Assistant land officer in training N. M. Ishfakul Kabir was present as special guest.
The day-long training included detailed discussions on village court case settlement progress, Union Parishad level DMIE report preparation and submission process, quarterly progress evaluation and field level service quality improvement. Participants are also taught hands-on report preparation techniques, so that Union Parishads can present information accurately and in a standardized manner in future.
The speakers in the meeting said that village court is the first stage of justice, where dispute resolution is possible at the local level quickly, at low cost and in a friendly environment. Therefore efficiency, regular inspection and information based evaluation are very important in the functioning of village court. Officials present opined that DMIE training will make the process more institutionalized and accountable.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rakibul Hasan said in his closing speech, “There is no substitute for accurate information, regular reporting and sincere attitude to transform the village court into a place of public trust.” He urged the participants to implement the knowledge gained from the training in their respective unions.
At the end of the training, an exchange of views was held among the participants and a pledge of mutual cooperation was expressed to make the activities of the village court more effective at the field level.
