The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has initially announced the names of the final candidates for 232 seats in the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections. The party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the names of the candidates at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Monday afternoon.
Party sources said that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will contest as a candidate in Bogra-7 and Dinajpur-3 seats. On the other hand, the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman will participate in the election in Bogra-6.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also announced that he will contest as a candidate in Thakurgaon-1 seat. In addition, the party’s national standing committee member Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram will participate in the election in Bhola-3 seat.
Party sources also said that a final decision will be made in the next phase regarding the remaining seats. BNP standing committee members, senior leaders, and representatives of various associate organizations were also present at the press conference.
