A woman has been arrested with 1 kg of marijuana in a raid by the Barguna District Detective Branch (DB) police.
With the aim of building a drug-free, extortion-free and juvenile gang-free society in the future, Barguna District Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohammad Al-Mamun Sikder has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drugs and has ordered to strengthen anti-drug operations throughout the district.
In continuation of this, on November 2, 2025, a team of the District Detective Branch (DB) police led by SI (retd) Md. Abul Kalam Azad conducted a raid based on secret information in the area under the jurisdiction of Barguna Sadar Police Station. At that time, a woman named Jannatul Ferdousi (45) was arrested with 1 kg of marijuana from Ward No. 06 of Burirchar Union.
The estimated market value of the marijuana recovered is Tk 80,000. A case has been registered against the arrested accused at Barguna Sadar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. Barguna District Police said that such operations will continue to eradicate drugs from the society.
