New provosts have been appointed in four residential halls of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX). This responsibility was given due to the completion of the term of the provosts in Shaheed Aziz Hall, G.M.A.G. Osmani Hall, Syed Nazrul Islam Hall and the resignation of the provost in Bir Protik Captain Sitara Begum Hall.
This information was revealed in an office order signed by the university’s Registrar (Additional Responsibilities) Professor Dr. Rasheda Begum on Thursday (October 30).
According to the office order, Professor Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib of the Department of Textile Engineering Management has been appointed as the provost of Shaheed Aziz Hall. Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman of the Department of Textile Fashion and Design has been appointed as the provost of Bir Protik Captain Sitara Begum Hall. Associate Professor Dr. Dilara Hossain of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences has been appointed as the new provost of Bir Protik Captain Sitara Begum Hall. In addition, the Assistant Provost of Syed Nazrul Islam Hall, Md. Motakabbir Hasan, has been appointed as the Provost (Acting) of that hall.
The newly appointed Provost, Professor Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib, said, “It is a moment of pride and great joy for me to take charge as the Provost of Shaheed Aziz Hall. Countless memories, dreams and invaluable chapters of my student life are associated with this hall. Once I was a residential student of this hall – and today taking charge as the Provost of the same hall is like creating a new bond with that past.
He also said, “I firmly believe that with the joint cooperation of students, teachers and administration, we will be able to develop Shaheed Aziz Hall as a good and ideal residential hall, InshaAllah.”
Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman said, “I express my gratitude to Allah Almighty for taking charge as the Provost of G.M.A.G. Osmani Hall. I am grateful to the university administration for the trust and responsibility it has placed in me. I always try my best to fulfill my responsibilities; GMAG Osmani Hall will be no exception, God willing. I will try to maintain the overall discipline of the hall, create an educationally friendly environment, and work for the overall welfare of the students with the utmost dedication, honesty, and responsibility.”
He further added, “I seek the cooperation of the university administration, colleagues, and students to create a safe, orderly, and positive residential environment for the students.”
Reacting to receiving the new responsibility, Professor Dr. Dilara Hossain said, “I feel truly grateful and humbled to be appointed as the provost. I am excited about the future path and sincerely thank those who have placed their trust in me. I am committed to fulfilling this responsibility with dedication and honesty.”
Assistant Professor Md. Motakabbir Hasan said, “Alhamdulillah. It is a great honor and pride for me to be appointed as the Provost of Syed Nazrul Islam Hall. This is not just a position, but a golden opportunity to work for the welfare of our students. I will strive to create a beautiful, peaceful and education-friendly environment with the cooperation of everyone, InshaAllah.”
The newly appointed Provosts will assume their respective responsibilities from November 1 and will fulfill their assigned responsibilities for the next two years.
