A bumper harvest of Aman rice has been achieved in Osmaninagar Upazila of Sylhet this time. The fields of eight unions of the upazila are now filled with golden rice grains, fulfilling the dreams of farmers. The Agriculture Department has said that Aman rice cultivation has been successful this season due to favorable weather and timely rain.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, Aman rice has been cultivated on 8,765 hectares of land in eight unions of Osmaninagar this season. Paddy harvesting has already started in various areas, and farmers are now smiling with complete satisfaction.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Umme Tamima said that the weather was favorable this season, there was timely rain, and officials of the Agriculture Department have regularly advised farmers at the field level. As a result, this year’s Aman rice harvest has been as expected. Paddy harvesting has started in almost all unions of the upazila. We hope that the production target will be exceeded.
Local farmer Ahmed Ali said that this year’s harvest has been very good. The yield is higher than last year. Due to the good weather, there was no insect attack. By the grace of God, we are all very happy.
The Agriculture Department said that preparations for the Rabi crop will also begin soon after the end of the Aman season. This year’s harvest has given financial relief to the farmers and the Agriculture Department hopes that it will also have a positive impact on the local economy.
