Six-month pregnant niece raped by uncle, case filed at police station. Accused uncle arrested. Rangpur’s Mithapukur police station and RAB conducted a joint operation and arrested the absconding rapist uncle from Lakshmipur.
A press release sent to the media from the media cell of Rangpur District Police said that on February 25, 2025, at around 6:30 pm, 7th grade student Renu Akhter (pseudonym) was taken to her own house by her uncle Golzar Hossain and forcibly raped her.
Accused Golzar Hossain is the son of the deceased Golap Uddin of Khoragach Uttarpara (Kuthipara) village under Mithapukur police station in Rangpur district.
He threatened her with various forms of intimidation, including death, if she did not tell anyone about the rape. That is why the simple Renu Akhter did not tell anyone about the rape to her family. After about 6 months of the incident, when Renu Akhter showed signs of pregnancy including physical changes, Renu Akhter’s mother told her about the incident in detail. Later, on September 17, when Renu Akhter was checked up at the Shyampur Seno Mother Care Chamber and Ultrasonogram under Badarganj Police Station, it was revealed that she was pregnant with a baby of 26 weeks and 4 days.
In this incident, the victim Renu Akhter’s father, Rabiul Islam, filed a written complaint with Mithapukur Police Station on September 18, and a case was registered with Mithapukur Police Station. No. 44 of 18/09/2025, Section 9(1), Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, (Amendment) Ordinance-2025. The accused Golzar Hossain was absconding since the case was registered.
Later, on Monday, October 19, at 3:30 pm, RAB-13 Rangpur, with the help of reliable sources and information technology, Lakshmipur Sadar Police and RAB-11 Lakshmipur, was able to arrest Golzar Hossain from Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila area. After interrogation, Mithapukur Police handed over the arrested accused to the learned court.
