Police have arrested a woman on charges of kidnapping a young woman in disguise in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur. The incident took place in the Chanderbag area of Jamalpur union of the upazila around 7 am on Saturday (October 18, 2025).
Police said that the victim of the kidnapping, Mosa Sumaiya Akhter (19), is the daughter of Maksuda Akhter and Md. Shukur Ali of the area.
Plaintiff Maksuda Akhter filed a complaint at the police station and said that on Saturday morning, Rabeya Begum (45) and Helena Akhter alias Ivy (38) along with four other unidentified men came to the house in a white microbus disguised as CID police. They took the victim Sumaiya from the house saying that “investigation is needed”.
Later, when the family became suspicious, the matter was reported to the police station. The police quickly conducted a raid and rescued the victim and arrested the accused Rabeya Begum. Others are absconding.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station said that Sub-Inspector (Unarmed) Md. Masud Rana Shamim has been assigned the responsibility of investigating the incident. A case has been registered in Kaliganj Police Station under FIR No. 27, dated 19 October 2025, GR No. 278.
The case is under investigation under Sections 170/365/506/34 of the Penal Code. The law and order situation is currently normal.
