The ‘Inter-Gunaigach Union Ward-based Football Tournament-2025 (Srijan-1)’ was inaugurated at the Kanthalbari Dwimukhi High School ground in Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram district with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the Bhagavad Gita. The tournament began at 4:30 pm on Friday to encourage sports and cultural activities among the local youth.
Ulipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nayan Kumar Saha was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. In his speech, he said, “Increasing sports activities among the youth is very important in preventing social degradation and developing healthy thinking. This tournament will create an excellent platform for the youth.”
Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Zillur Rahman, Upazila Cooperative Officer and Administrative Officer in Charge of Gunaigach Union Parishad No. 9 K. M. Masudur Rahman.
The program was presided over by District Sports Officer and Tournament Advisor Asaduzzaman. In his speech, he thanked everyone for their sincere cooperation and sought everyone’s cooperation for the smooth and safe completion of the tournament.
Notable aspects are that the tournament was organized by the gift sponsor: Rangpur Mobile (Ulipur branch). Coupons ranging from 1 to 1,000 were given to the visitors through lottery. Three attractive prizes were announced and the presence of people from different political philosophies and social strata in the inaugural program set a unique example of harmony and unity at the local level. Former Municipal Mayor and Upazila Chairman of Ulipur Upazila, Member Secretary, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Haider Ali Mia was present as the invited guest. Also present were Jahangir Alam Sohag, Finance Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Gunaigach Union Branch, Abdus Subahan, Member Secretary of Jatiya Party Ulipur Upazila Branch, and Abdul Alim, Secretary General of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Gunaigach Union Branch.
The tournament is under the overall supervision of Success Residential School Director and Founder Executive Secretary Saidul Islam Khandaker and Tournament Advisor Md. Shahjahan Siraj.
Tournament Advisor Asaduzzaman Asad and Convener Biplob Ansari expressed their greetings and thanks.
The inaugural match was started by the chief guest UNO Nayan Kumar Saha by throwing the ball into play. From then on, the festive competition began. Hundreds of spectators present around the field are hoping that this tournament of local young footballers will add a new dimension to the sports arena of Gunaigach Union.
