The 135th death anniversary of spiritual saint and promoter of the Fakir philosophy, Mahatma Fakir Lalon Saiji, was celebrated with deep respect, solemnity and devotion in Kalihati, Tangail, as part of the government recognition.
On Friday (October 17), the Central Sadhu Sangha celebrated the day with various spiritual programs throughout the day. Before the dawn, the premises of the Sangha were filled with the footsteps of devotees, Bauls and saints. The melodies of Lalon songs floated one after another. The message of humanity, love and unity spread in the waves of the music.
The day-long programs included discussions, spiritual speeches, lunch and pleasant cultural performances.
The overall supervision of the program was provided by the founder of the Central Sadhu Sangha and the president of the Bangladesh Human Rights Commission Kalihati branch, senior journalist Shah Alam. Harimohan Pal, President of the Central Sadhu Sangha, presided over the event.
Present at the event were Upazila BNP Student Affairs Secretary Lutfar Rahman Lelin, Expatriate Welfare Secretary Idris Ali, local BNP leader Engineer Shamsul Alam Fakir, National Hindu Mahajote Senior Vice President and Journalist Gauranga Biswas, Journalist Atowar Rahman, Journalist Shuvro Majumdar, local social workers and numerous Baul devotees.
The speakers said that Lalon Saiji was a great philosopher of humanity, who erased the boundaries of caste, religion and color and spread the message of love, equality and unity among people.
In this day-long event, the premises of the Central Sadhu Sangha turned into a grand gathering with the gathering of saints, Bauls and Lalon devotees from the surrounding areas. This Tirodhan Diwas, illuminated by the light of spirituality, music and humanity, ends with Lalon’s eternal message, ‘If you respect people, you will become a golden man.’
