Pirganj (Thakurgaon) Correspondent:
The roots of Bangladeshi cricket have now spread to remote areas. Talent search and selection processes are underway in every division of the country, through which a new generation of talented cricketers are emerging. Similarly, the hero of a success story, Pirganj’s talented son, Md. Rubel Ali’s son Sadiq Al Hasan, has recently made it to the Bangladesh Under-15 national cricket team.
An inter-divisional selection round was held with the participation of eight districts of Rangpur division. Talented players selected from each district participated in a 10-day special cricket camp organized at Rangpur Cricket Garden. After this intensive training under the supervision of coaches, a 14-member team from Rangpur division was formed in the selection process. This team was led by captain Md. Sadiq Al Hasan.
Nine more regional teams were formed across the country in the same process—a total of 10 teams. These teams were divided into two venues and games were organized in Khulna and Cox’s Bazar. From there, the real competition began. The players’ performance was closely monitored by the selectors and coaches of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
From these ten teams, three teams were selected again, which participated in the “Challenge Series”. In every game of the series, the indomitable enthusiasm and competitive spirit among the youngsters were seen. Here too, two teams were selected by selecting the best performers. The teams were named East and West respectively. From the games between these two teams, 28 players were finally selected to be in the U-15 national team.
Then, a 10-day special skill camp was held with these 28 players at BKSP (Bangladesh Sports Education Institute) in Dhaka. In this camp, the players’ technical skills, physical fitness and mental toughness were tested according to international standards. Through this long process, a Bangladesh U-15 national team of 15 was finally formed.
The pride of Pirganj, Md. Rubel Ali’s son Sadiq Al Hasan got a place in this team. Sadiq Al Hasan is a student of the eighth grade of Pirganj Pilot High School and a resident of Jagtha Ward No. 6 of the municipality. His cricket talent and hard work have brought him national-level success at a young age.
The success of this young cricketer has created a wave of joy throughout Pirganj. Local sports personalities and teachers of educational institutions say, “The success of Rubel Ali’s son is the pride of not only the family, but the entire Pirganj. Such talents will represent the national team brilliantly in the future.”
