A typhoid vaccination campaign is also starting in Thakurgaon. It will start from October 12 and will continue for 18 consecutive working days. During this period, a target has been set to bring 420,822 children and adolescents of the district under the ambit of vaccination.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Anisur Rahman gave this information at a journalist orientation workshop held at the Thakurgaon Civil Surgeon’s office on Thursday (October 9) afternoon.
He said that children from the age of 9 months to under 15 years and all students from pre-primary to ninth grade will be given 1 dose of typhoid vaccine. Children who do not have a birth certificate or who do not go to school will be vaccinated immediately by creating a ‘white list’. The registration process for getting the vaccine will be conducted online.
The Civil Surgeon also said that typhoid is a preventable infectious disease. This vaccination program will play a helpful role in ensuring the health of children.
Other officials of the District Health Department, Medical Officer Iftekhairul Islam, and journalists from various local print and electronic media were also present at the workshop.
