Md. Roni Ahmed Raju, Magura Correspondent:

Following the publication of the news, Nannu Mondal, the president of Dora Dakhil Madrasa in Magura Sadar Upazila, has been accused of making disrespectful remarks and threatening a journalist.

The victim journalist, Faruk Ahmed, said that when he went to the madrasa on Thursday, August 6, at noon, Assistant Superintendent Mukhlej asked him to speak to president Nannu Mondal. After that, Nannu Mondal called him on his mobile phone and threatened to take him to court.

According to local sources, Nannu Mondal has been serving as the president of Dora Dakhil Madrasa, located in Dora village of Ward No. 1 of Raghabdair Union, for many years. Since October 2023, the locals have been highlighting the poor condition of the madrasa and demanding the formation of a new managing committee through elections.

Locals complain that despite teaching young students in an open environment, the madrasa’s infrastructure and modern buildings are not being developed. They believe that the madrasa will be able to develop extensively if a new committee is formed.

When the accused Nannu Mondal was spoken to on the phone in this regard, he first said to journalist Faruk Ahmed, “You have ruined me for 2-3 years, I will see how you do journalism.” Then when he called him again, he denied it and said, “I did not say anything like you threatening me.” He also used the name of a political leader and hung up the phone after talking incoherently.

Meanwhile, the local journalist community has strongly condemned the incident of threatening the journalist and demanded legal action be taken against the culprits.

Locals said that in the said Dora Dakhil Madrasa, Nannu works as a nanny for Mandal’s wife,
her nephew Faruk Hossain works as a clerk’s office assistant, her younger brother Mamun works as a night watchman by giving someone else’s or forged certificates.

MPO Nitimala actually entered the Makhlez in 2023, but her birth date showed 6-7 years ago. In addition, most of the teachers and employees who have worked tirelessly since the beginning of the madrasa have not been appointed, all of them have been appointed in exchange for money and nepotism, the aggrieved teachers and locals claim.
