Police have recovered the body of a farmer named Rasul Mondal (60) from a crop field in Tanore, Rajshahi. His body was recovered from a paddy field in Gokul village of Tanore municipal area on Saturday night.
The deceased Rasul Mondal is the son of the deceased Lucky Mondal of the same village.
According to local and family sources, Rasul Mondal did not return after leaving home around 9 am on Friday. Family members searched at various places but could not find him. Later, on Saturday evening, a person from Gokul village saw his body lying in the paddy field while cutting grass in the field. When the matter came to light, the family and the police were informed.
Upon receiving the information, the Tanore police station went to the spot and recovered the body around 8:30 pm on Saturday and took it to the police station. Ataur Mondal, the son of the deceased, said that his father had been ill for some time. The land where the body was found, about two kathas, was cultivated by his father this year from a person named Abarat of the village. He used to go there occasionally to take care of the land.
According to local witnesses, Rasul Mandal was often seen on that land. As he had been ill for a long time, the locals initially believe that he may have died due to a stroke. However, the real cause of death can be confirmed after receiving the autopsy report.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tanor Police Station Mahmudul Hasan said that on receiving the information, the body was recovered from the paddy field and taken to the police station. An accidental death (UD) case has been registered at the police station in this regard. The body will be sent to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The OC also said that according to the information provided by the family, the deceased had been ill for quite some time. Initially, it is believed that he may have died due to a stroke.
