Zahid Hasan Dhaka Correspondent:
Daily Jugantor Bangladesh staff reporter Zahid Hasan and Dhaka district correspondent Maruf Hossain were attacked by terrorists in Mohammadpur, the capital.
The victims alleged that the incident began after an argument with the driver of a CNG autorickshaw.
At one stage, the driver called some people to the scene. Later, they forcibly took the two journalists to a culvert and threatened to kill them, threatened them with country-made weapons and electric heaters, and demanded Tk 20,000. At that time, the victims alleged that the attackers also tried to snatch their mobile phones and wallets.
Seeing the situation as dangerous, journalist Maruf Hossain immediately called the national emergency service 999 and sought police assistance. Upon receiving the information, the police quickly reached the scene, rescued the two journalists and took them to a safe place.
After the rescue, the two journalists were contacted again by the national emergency service 999 and their safety was confirmed by checking whether they were safe.
The two journalists are reportedly preparing to take legal action after the incident. They and their colleagues have demanded the swift identification, arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the incident.
