A tree plantation program has been inaugurated in Char Rajibpur Upazila by planting saplings of Gorjan and Telsur trees as part of the 250 million tree plantation program promised by the Honorable Prime Minister in five years.

Rajibpur Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Miron Md. Elias inaugurated the program by planting saplings as the chief guest at a program organized in the Baliamari Bazar area of ​​the upazila on Saturday (June 13).

According to various sources, tree plantation activities will be conducted in different places of the upazila in phases under this program taken by the government to protect the balance of the environment, conserve biodiversity and combat the adverse effects of climate change. This year, saplings will be planted extensively in various educational institutions, government offices, roadsides and open spaces under the joint initiative of Rajibpur Sadar Union Parishad and the Forest Department.

Speaking at the event, Rajibpur Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Miron Md. Elias said, “The Rajibpur Upazila Administration and Sadar Union Parishad are working wholeheartedly to implement the 250 million tree plantation program announced by the Honorable Prime Minister in five years with the overall cooperation of the Upazila. Tree plantation activities will continue in different areas of the Upazila in coordination with the Forest Department. A tree not only protects the environment, it also plays an important role in building a safe world for future generations.”

He also said, “Everyone should plant at least one fruit, forest or medicinal tree in and around their own home courtyard. On the one hand, this will ensure the nutrition of the family, and on the other hand, it will be possible to make an important contribution to environmental conservation and combating the adverse effects of climate change.”

At that time, forest department officials and employees, Rajibpur UP member Saleha Begum, Rajibpur Pilot High School assistant teacher Shahjahan Akul, Ward No. 1 BNP general secretary Shahidur Rahman, JASAS joint general secretary Mashiur Rahman Ratan, Friendship Community paralegal Altaf Hossain, Ward Jubo Dal president Manik Mia and local dignitaries were present.
