Traditional snake jumping game held in Dugdugi village of Damurhuda

The traditional snake jumping game of rural Bengal was held at Dugdugi Bazar in Hauli Union of Damurhuda Upazila of Chuwadanga district. Organized by the Dugdugi Hat Committee, this jumping game continued till Thursday afternoon. Snakes dance to the beat of drums and songs, while snakes also show various gestures.

Some people show various physical exercises with snakes wrapped around their necks. A large number of people, including men, women and children, enjoy this game. Aminul Islam, who came to watch the jumping game from Raghunathpur in Chuwadanga district, said that this game is a traditional game of rural Bengal. Snakes are dangerous animals.

The snake sways and sways at the sound of the snake, dances on its neck, holds it by the neck, and gives it a lot of blows. It is surprising to see. General Secretary of the Hat Committee Madan Kumar Ghosh said that the snake leader Dinesh Kumar Debnath’s gesture makes the snake understand that this game is not only for the enjoyment of people but also a fight for dignity.

People from several upazilas come to watch this snake jumping game, this is our big achievement. President of the Hat Committee Md. Ripon Shah said that many people have come from different areas including Dugdugi, Tarinipur, Loknathpur, Bastpur, Raghunathpur, Kadipur, Hauli, Dudhpatila, Jayrampur of Damurhuda Upazila Sadar.

10-12 people in two teams participate in the snake jumping game. In this way, the jumping game is completed beautifully and smoothly.
