Dhaka Correspondent:
The capital's section of the road has become a place of suffering for the common people every day due to terrible traffic jams. Vehicles are stuck on this road for hours from morning to night. From office-going working people, students, businessmen to ambulances carrying patients - no one is able to avoid this jam. As a result, extreme suffering and frustration are created in daily life.
Locals said that the main reason for the traffic jam is illegal encroachment on both sides of the road, violence by hawkers, chaotic parking and lack of adequate traffic police. In addition, since there is no alternative road, the entire pressure falls on this only main road, which cannot be easily managed. It sometimes takes more than two hours to travel a few kilometers during office hours.
In this situation, students are not able to reach classes on time, patient transportation is being disrupted, and businessmen are also suffering from huge losses. Businessmen claim that due to the traffic jam, it is not possible to deliver goods on time, which is increasing transportation costs and buyers are getting annoyed and going elsewhere.
The victims believe that if effective measures are not taken quickly, this suffering will increase. They claim that the problem will be solved to a large extent if the road is cleared of encroachments, modern traffic management is introduced, alternative roads are built and regular monitoring is ensured.
Experts believe that if a permanent solution is not found on this important road in the capital, not only the local people but also the entire city's transportation system will be severely disrupted. Therefore, the common people are demanding quick action from the government.
