Boalmari (Faridpur) Correspondent:
On the occasion of the Purba Bhatdi Islamia Dakhil Madrasa elections-2025 in Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur, the International Human Rights Journalists Association and local journalists and local residents, including students, guardians, members, and voters’ lists, complaints of irregularities in the law and order situation, and various corruption, Upazila Executive Officer Tanvir Hasan Chowdhury and Upazila Secondary Education Officer and Presiding Officer Md. Jalal Uddin sent a letter to the institution in writing, suspending the elections, it was learned through the institution’s Superintendent Md. Elias Mollah. It is learned that the Upazila administration and Upazila Secondary Education Officer issued this suspension order on September 15, 2025.
According to local sources, the 2024 Managing Committee elections were suspended on the same allegations. Local sources also know that the Madrasa Superintendent commits such irregularities in a planned manner to win a specific party.
When asked about this, the superintendent of the institution, Md. Ilias Molla, skillfully evaded. According to the schedule form, the Upazila Education Officer’s office announced the schedule for the Purba Bhatdi Islamia Dakhil Madrasa Managing Committee Election-2025 on August 24, 2025.
The date for distribution and submission of nomination papers was given from August 31, 2025 to September 2, 2025. The last date for verification of nomination papers and publication of the valid list was September 4, 2025 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers was September 7, 2025. The schedule was announced stating that the election would be held on September 21, 2025.
When the Purba Bhatdi Islamia Dakhil Madrasa Managing Committee announced the election schedule for Election-2025, it was seen that before announcing the schedule, the draft voter list was not published on the notice board but the final voter list was published on August 13, 2025. After receiving the final voter list, the guardian member candidates, international human rights journalist organizations and local journalists went to the spot and during the investigation, they found various irregularities and inconsistencies, including the deceased being a voter, double voters, and both parents of the same student being voters.
The guardian members and locals, who did not want to be named, said that the madrasa superintendent commits such irregularities and corruption every time. Shikha Begum, a female guardian member candidate, complained that Madrasa Superintendent Md. Ilias Molla made her sign the withdrawal of candidacy without informing her.
When Madrasa Superintendent Md. Ilias Molla was asked about the irregularities and inconsistencies, he said that he was evading responsibility by saying that he did not know about such irregularities and corruption.
