National Citizen Party (NCP) Khulna division chief and central labor organization ‘Shramik Shakti’ president Motaleb Shikder was publicly shot on Monday (December 22) around 12:15 in Sonadanga area. He was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The information related to the incident was published on social media by the joint chief organizer of NCP. Mahmuda Mitu. He said that Motaleb Shikder was seriously injured in the firing on Monday and he was quickly rescued and taken to the hospital.
Sonadanga Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter. He said, “When the miscreants fired at Motaleb Shikder, the people around came quickly and rescued him and first admitted him to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Initially, there were reports of bullet injuries in his ear. However, he was later taken to Sheikhpara City Imaging Center to check the condition of his head.”
The OC also said, “Police have taken legal action in the incident and preliminary investigation has started from the spot. We are trying to identify the attackers by collecting information from various sources.”
Meanwhile, NCP leaders and various political and social organizations condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers. Due to this incident, a lot of excitement has been created in the political circles of Khulna. Common people have also publicly expressed concern over such sabotage attacks.
It is not yet clear whether political vendetta or personal dispute is behind the attack. However, the police and related authorities are trying to find out the real cause of the incident through investigation.
