Bheramara (Kushtia) Correspondent:
A protest rally was held at Bheramara bus stand premises today, September 10, at around 3 pm.
The protest rally ended at the bus stand intersection after the procession circled the main road of Bheramara Bazar. Hundreds of leaders and activists participated in the procession. The area was filled with various slogans including “Why is the biennial conference postponed?” and “The deserters must be evaluated.”
The main speech at the protest rally was delivered by Bheramara Upazila Joint Convener Principal Aslam Uddin,
Bheramara Upazila BNP Joint Convener Md. Janbar Ali, Bheramara Upazila Joint Convener Zahidul Islam Ranju, and all members of the new BNP committee of the 6 unions of Bheramara Upazila and leaders of the affiliated organizations were present.
The protest rally was chaired by Shafiqul Islam Bishu, and the newly elected committee presidents and general secretaries of various wards also made the protest rally a success.
The speakers complained that every union had been elected on the basis of free and democratic voting rights, but why should the upazila biennial conference not be held on the basis of voting rights? The leaders and activists of all the BNP affiliate organizations have one demand for this protest rally, not a single demand, but that we will elect our leaders on the basis of voting rights. We do not want the formation of ‘pocket committees’.
At that time, the joint convener of the 6 unions of the upazila BNP, Md. Abul Kalam Abul Biswas, joint convener Aslam Mollah, and joint convener Janbar Hossain, along with the leaders of all the BNP affiliate organizations, joined the rally one by one, and the rally turned into an ocean of people.
The leaders of Bheramara Upazila BNP expressed their satisfaction by suspending the movement for the time being and said that they would wait for a good decision.
The protest rally, which has turned into a protest rally, was ended by the leaders of the Bheramara Upazila branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP, who said that they will elect their leaders on the basis of voting rights, and their leaders will be proven on the basis of their qualifications.
The rally was moderated by Mohammad Saiful Islam Rokon, former president of the Chhatra Dal, former president of the Volunteer Dal, and respected member of the Upazila BNP convening committee.
The event was organized by leaders, activists and supporters from all the affiliated organizations of Bheramara Upazila BNP.
