A protest program was held in Dhamirhat, Naogaon to realize the demands of MP teachers. As part of the nationwide BAPI program, private MP teachers and employees of the Dhamirhat Teachers' Association, under the initiative of the 3-point demand and the police attack on the protesting teachers, held a 1-hour BAPI protest and sit-in program.
On Thursday, October 16, at 11 am, teachers and employees of various educational institutions affiliated with MP in the upazila, organized by the Secondary Teachers' Association, gathered at the office premises of the Secondary Teachers' Association and took out a rally and ended in front of the upazila gate. A discussion meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Secondary Teachers' Association, Mr. Mukul Hossain.
The discussion meeting was addressed by Headmaster Mr. Lutfar Rahman, Principal Ilias Alam, Headmaster Abdur Rahman, Headmaster Benazir Ahmed, Principal Maw: Abu Bakkar, Principal Abdus Sobahan, Sashi Tariqul Islam, Sashi Abdur Rouf, etc. The speakers called for immediate realization of their three-point demands: 20 percent house rent, 1500 taka medical allowance, and 75 percent festival allowance.
At that time, the speakers said that the just movement of the teachers cannot be suppressed by water cannons and lathi charges. If the demands are not accepted, the movement will become more intense. They also said that on the one hand, the government is talking about improving the quality of education, on the other hand, the teachers of MP are living in a humanitarian situation due to the salary and allowance crisis. The teachers of Dhamirhat Upazila will carry out any program to realize the demands of the centrally announced teachers.
