“The ideals of the leader are our motivation to move forward” — Dr. KM Babar A discussion meeting and prayer meeting were held in Gopalganj to pray for the eternal peace of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The program was organized by the District Sramik Dal at the Palli Bidyut More area of Gopalganj on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. KM Babar, the BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate for Gopalganj-2 constituency, spoke as the chief guest at the program presided over by Sheikh Abdullah, member secretary of Gopalganj District Sramik Dal, and moderated by Hasanul Banna, organizing secretary of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila BNP.
In his speech as the chief guest, Dr. KM Babar said, “Begum Khaleda Zia was an uncompromising leader who fought for the democratic rights of the people of this country. Her void can never be filled. The ideals and sacrifices of the leader are the main motivation for us to move forward today.”
Gopalganj District BNP Convener Sharif Rafiquzzaman, Acting Member Secretary Advocate Kazi Abul Khair, District BNP Members Azizur Rahman Beno, Ziaul Kabir Biplob, Sadar Upazila BNP President Sikder Shahidul Islam Lelin, General Secretary Fazlul Kabir Dara, Municipal BNP President Sheikh Hasibur Rahman Hasib and General Secretary Kabirul Islam were present as special guests at the event.
Also present were District Jubo Dal President Riazuddin Lipton, District Volunteer Dal Convener Sajjad Hossain Hira, Joint Conveners Jobair Sheikh, Hasibur Rahman, Insan Sheikh, Sajeeb Lashkar, District Chhatra Dal President Mikail Sheikh, General Secretary Saiful Islam, Senior Vice President Imrul Kayes, Shariful Islam Roman and leaders and activists from various levels of BNP and its affiliated organizations.
The Holy Quran was recited at the beginning of the event. After the discussion meeting, special prayers and supplications were held by reciting Surah Fatiha, Ikhlas and Darood to seek forgiveness for the departed soul of late Begum Khaleda Zia. The prayers were led by Imam of Gopalganj Palli Bidyut Samity Mosque Md. Rafiuzzaman.
A large number of leaders and activists of the district BNP and its affiliates, as well as local common people, were present at the time.
