Teachers took up a position at the National Press Club in the capital demanding the nationalization of the independent Ebtedayi Madrasa. Later, when they tried to enter the Secretariat, the police threw water cannons and sound grenades and dispersed them. They marched towards the Secretariat with a procession after 1:30 pm today (October 29). They tried to enter the Secretariat gate at around 2 pm. After about 30 minutes of scuffle, the police threw water cannons and grenades, injuring several teachers, it is reported.

Teachers of the independent Ebtedayi Madrasa said, 'We were going to the Secretariat with a peaceful procession, we will go there and talk about our demands. But the police stopped us. They threw sound grenades at us, it is sad. They threw water cannons in our ears and mouths. What kind of country is this that teachers are attacked! Even if it means death, the movement will continue until our demands are met.’

Teacher Abdul Khalek, who came from Joypurhat, said, “We want nationalization. Even if the government wants to give it, they are holding it back. However, the government had announced that it would accept our demands. But the government is making excuses.
