During the special police operation 'Operation Devil Hunt' in Narsingdi, one of the accused in the murder case of the anti-discrimination student movement and the vice-president of the district Awami League, Ekramul Islam, has been arrested.
On Saturday (December 20), the Narsingdi Model Police Station conducted this operation and arrested him. The arrested Ekramul Islam also served as the former president of the Narsingdi District Jubo League.
Details of the operation A smart team of police led by Narsingdi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Mamun and Inspector (Investigation) Samiul Islam conducted this operation. According to the police, he was arrested on specific charges of attacking and killing protesters in Narsingdi during the mass uprising of students and the public on August 5, and planning sabotage later.
Police statement: Narsingdi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Mamun confirmed the arrest and said that since the start of 'Operation Devil Hunt', special efforts have been made to arrest the criminals. Ekramul Islam is the accused in the student murder case. Legal action is being taken against him and the process of handing him over to the court is underway.
