A man named Mokles Molla (43) was hacked to death by miscreants in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj. The tragic incident took place in the Tarail area of Fukra union of the upazila on Wednesday (December 31) evening.
According to police and local sources, the deceased Mokles Molla was returning home on a motorcycle from Tarail Bazar in the evening with a young man named Shakib. When they reached the Nazir Kazir intersection on the way, 4 to 5 miscreants stopped their motorcycle. At that time, the miscreants attacked the motorcyclist Shakib and Mokles Molla.
Although Shakib managed to escape at one stage of the attack, the miscreants hacked Mokles Molla indiscriminately with sharp weapons, seriously injuring him and leaving him at the scene.
Later, locals rescued Mokles Molla in a seriously injured condition and took him to Gopalganj General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The hospital’s on-duty doctor, AKM Sirajul Islam, said that Mokles Mollah was brought to the hospital with serious injuries around 8 pm. He died before being brought to the hospital due to excessive bleeding.
Kashiani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman said, “As soon as the news was received, police were sent to the scene. No written complaint has been received in the incident so far. However, the police operation is continuing to arrest those involved in the incident.”
The deceased Mokles Mollah is the son of Abul Kalam Mollah of Tarail village in Fukra union of Kashiani upazila.
