Mirza Ruhul Amin Gold Cup Football Tournament Finals Held in Thakurgaon Haripur

The final match of the Mirza Ruhul Amin Gold Cup Football Tournament was held in Haripur of Thakurgaon district amidst grand arrangements. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the final match of the tournament by releasing balloons and pigeons at the Karbal Mini Stadium of the upazila at 4 pm on Thursday.

Organized by Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Haripur Upazila Branch, the final match was presided over by Jahangir Alam, President of the Upazila Branch of the organization. Upazila Branch General Secretary Akhtar Jamil and local leaders at various levels were also present at the event.

Speaking as the chief guest, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “Sports inspire the youth of the society with discipline, unity and patriotism. Such initiatives have a positive impact on the society.”

Thakurgaon District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygam Ali, former MP from Thakurgaon-2 constituency Z. Matiurza Chowdhury Tula, Baliadangi Upazila BNP Vice President and former Secretary General of DAB Dr. Abdus Salam, Haripur Upazila BNP President Jamal Uddin, General Secretary Abu Taher and Swechchhasebak Dal Secretary Jahangir Alam among others spoke as special guests at the event.

As the game ended in a goalless draw at the scheduled time, a trybreaker was resorted to to determine the result. In this, Thakurgaon CFC team won the championship and Syedpur Football Academy became the runners-up.

Later, Thakurgaon District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin handed over the prize money of 75 thousand taka to the winning team and 50 thousand taka to the runner-up team.
