Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia laid to rest with state honours at Zia Udyan. Ending a deeply sorrowful chapter in the nation's political history, the funeral prayers of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia have been completed with the participation of millions of devout devotees.
Three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was laid to rest with state honours next to the tomb of martyred President Major Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam) at Dhaka's historic Zia Udyan premises. The entire area surrounding the funeral and burial ceremony turned into an emotional sea of people.

Devotees, party leaders and activists, political figures, scholars, diplomatic representatives and people from all walks of life from different parts of the country began to gather in the Zia Udyan area long before the scheduled time. Top leaders of BNP and like-minded alliances, former ministers, parliamentarians, prominent citizens and people from various classes and professions of society participated in the funeral.
The funeral prayer was led by a renowned scholar. After the prayer, special prayers and supplications were offered, seeking forgiveness for the soul of Begum Khaleda Zia. At this time, thousands of voices chanted, “May Allah Almighty forgive her and grant her Jannatul Firdous.”

A guard of honor was given during the state funeral. Strict security measures were taken across the capital, especially in the Zia Udyan area, to maintain law and order. A large number of law enforcement officers were deployed around the entire event.
