A young woman committed suicide by writing a suicide note in Monohardi, Narsingdi, after being blackmailed by her boyfriend. The incident has created a huge sensation in the local area.
The incident took place in Dakshin Narendrapur village of Lebutola union of the upazila. The name of the young woman who committed suicide is Fahmida Sultana Mim. She is the daughter of Bakul Mia of that village. Mim’s mother filed a case with Monohardi police station on September 29 as the plaintiff in this incident.
It is known that before her death, Mim posted a suicide note on her Facebook. There, she blamed Parvez, son of Jalal Uddin Jalu of Charmandalia village of the upazila, for her suicide.
In the suicide note, Mim wrote, “Parvez is responsible for my death. I had a four-year relationship with him. He had physical relations with me under the pretext of marriage and there is no act that he has not done with me. He has saved various videos of these and has been blackmailing me for a long time. When I proposed marriage to him, he rejected it. So I was forced to take this decision.”
The incident has sparked intense anger in the area. Mim’s family and local residents have demanded exemplary punishment for Parvez.
