Police have arrested two people with Yaba in a special anti-drug operation in Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon. One of the arrested is a local leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Jubo Dal.

According to police sources, Jubo Dal leader Md. Ashraful Islam (38) and his associate Md. Saddam Hossain (30) were arrested with Yaba tablets during a drive in the Bangaon Bazar area of ​​the upazila on Wednesday (September 24, 2025) night.

Case No. 11/144 was filed in this incident on Thursday (September 25). A case was registered against them under Section 10(a)/41 of Table 36(1) of the Narcotics Control Act-2018. Later, the arrested persons were handed over to the court after due process.

The arrested Ashraful Islam is the son of the deceased Nazrul Islam of Bangaon village of Haripur upazila. The other arrested Saddam Hossain is the son of Nakir Hossain of Bangaon (Mojirpara) village of the same area.

Police said the operation was conducted as part of an ongoing special anti-drug operation.
