Joint forces raid in Kaukhali Upazila; 1 arrested with 650 liters of brewed liquor

A person has been arrested with 660 liters of domestically made liquor in a joint operation by the police and the army in Kawkhali Upazila of Rangamati Sadar. A pickup van used for transporting drugs was seized during this operation.

This operation was conducted as part of a special anti-drug operation under the direction of Rangamati Hill District Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib, (PPM).

On Monday (December 29), 25 AD at approximately 11:50 pm, a search was conducted in a suspicious pickup van in the Rubber Bagan Foreigners Police Checkpost area under Kawkhali Police Station under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Enamul Haque Chowdhury. During the search, 26 white plastic bags were recovered from the pickup van.

Each bag contained 25 packets of saline and a total of 650 liters of domestically made liquor, each containing 1 liter, was found. The estimated market value of the seized liquor is around Tk 3.25 lakh.
The police have seized the pickup van used for transporting drugs. During the operation, the pickup driver Anup Dutta (31) was arrested red-handed.

He is the son of Gokul Dutta of Keyagar area of ​​Chatari union of Anwara police station in Chittagong.
However, two other unidentified accused managed to escape from the scene after sensing the presence of the police.
A case (Case No. 10, Date: 30/12/2025) has been filed against Anup Dutta and the two absconding accused under the relevant section of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 at Kaukhali police station in this incident.

Police said that this strict stance of the joint forces to prevent the spread of drugs in the hilly areas will continue in the future.
