Introduction meeting and oath-taking ceremony of the Journalist Torture Prevention Cell in Ramganj

The Ramganj Upazila branch of the Journalist Torture Prevention Cell, Bangladesh, held an introductory meeting and oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday (December 31, 2025) night at a restaurant in Ramganj Upazila.

The program was presided over by the President of the Ramganj Upazila branch of the Journalist Torture Prevention Cell, Md. Sayed Hossain and moderated by General Secretary Nurun Nabi Gazi. The program was attended by the President of the Lakshmipur District Branch of the Journalist Torture Prevention Cell, Bangladesh, AKM Mahmud Riaz as the chief guest, the General Secretary of the Lakshmipur District Branch of the Journalist Torture Prevention Cell, Bangladesh, Zakir H. Suman, General Secretary of the Lakshmipur District Branch of the Journalist Torture Prevention Cell, Bangladesh, Md. Abu Taher, President of the Ramganj Press Club, Md. Iqbal Hossain, Executive Member of the Ramganj Press Club, Md. Emran Hossain Patwari, Joint General Secretary Md. Saiful Islam, President of the Raipur Upazila branch of the Journalist Torture Prevention Cell, Bangladesh, Abdullah Al Mamun, General Secretary Delwar Hossain Patwari.

The newly elected committee members were introduced at the event, along with the organization’s ideology, goals and objectives, and the members’ oath was read out. After taking the oath, the speakers called on journalists to work together to ensure their professional safety, protect independent journalism, and combat journalistic harassment.

The speakers said that journalists are being subjected to harassment and bullying in different parts of the country while performing their professional duties. The journalist community is concerned that these incidents are not being fairly prosecuted. They called for unity in ensuring the safety of journalists and protecting independent journalism. The Journalist Abuse Prevention Cell Bangladesh will play an effective and responsible role in preventing any harassment and bullying of the journalist community.
