The new building of the Meherpur 250-bed General Hospital has been inaugurated with the aim of modernizing and improving health services. The building was inaugurated on Friday, September 19, 2025 at around 3 pm. The program was presided over by Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, Journalist Monir Haider.
The chief guests were present as National Consensus Commission member Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Dr. Mokhles Ur Rahman, Secretary of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health Saidur Rahman, IMED Secretary of the Ministry of Planning Kamal Uddin, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Additional Secretary Firoz Sarkar, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr. Abu Zafar, DIG of Khulna Range Rezaul Haque, Khulna Division Health Director (Acting) Dr. Mujibur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Manzur Ahmed Siddiqui, Civil Surgeon Dr. A. K. M. Abu Sayeed and Meherpur General Hospital Superintendent Dr. Shahria Shayla Jahan, former MP from Meherpur-1 constituency, BNP National Executive Committee member and BNP Paddy Sheaf candidate from Meherpur-1 constituency Masud Arun, former MP from Meherpur-2 constituency and BNP Paddy Sheaf candidate from Meherpur-2 constituency Amjad Hossain.
Speakers at the inauguration ceremony said that this building with modern facilities is a big step towards ensuring quality medical services for the people of the district. This will be a new milestone in the implementation of the government's commitment to healthcare.
The guests also mentioned that this hospital will not only be a medical service center, but also play an effective role as a training center for creating skilled human resources.
