Locals are protesting by blocking the Dhaka-Aricha Highway due to waterlogging in three areas including Shobhapur in Raj Fulbaria of Savar for 15 days.
They have been protesting by blocking the Dhaka-Aricha Highway since 9 am on Wednesday (September 1).
Locals said that people from about 2,000 families are waterlogged. At that time, about 4,000 small and large vehicles, including long-distance vehicles, were stuck on the road on both sides of the Dhaka-Aricha Highway. This problem was not resolved until 11 am. As a result, thousands of passengers suffered greatly.
It is also known that the locals have been protesting by blocking the highway since 9 am due to waterlogging in three areas including Shobhapur in Fulbaria for the past 15 days. Locals said that about 2000 families are waterlogged.
OC of Savar Model Police Station Jewel Mia told Jugantor that the waterlogged people have blocked the highway due to their frustration. Savar Highway Police Traffic Inspector and three police teams are trying to clear the blockade. He said that the local people organized this blockade program against the local Upazila Nirbahi Officer. He (UNO) has been informed about the matter.
When asked about this, UNO Abu Bakar Sarkar said that this crisis was created when an influential person in the area filled the low-lying land in that area. Even though the blockade was not effective, waterlogging was caused due to heavy rain. He said that he is going to the spot.
In this regard, Savar Traffic Inspector Golam Sarwar said, we are working to quickly remove the people from the road. The locals have blocked the highway. Around 10:45 pm, the police normalized the movement of some vehicles. The police said that it will take a few more hours for the situation to be completely normal. Efforts are being made to remove them from the highway.
