The Tunirhat Gold Cup Football Tournament was held in Panchagarh with grand arrangements. The opening match of the tournament was held at the Tunirhat Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Degree College ground in Sadar Upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
Organized by the Tunirhat Junior Football Academy, Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Sabet Ali inaugurated the match by hoisting the national and sports flags amidst the national anthem.
In the match, Nilphamari’s Khan Brothers Football Academy, Jaldhaka defeated Rajshahi Kishore Football Academy 2-0 to win.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Kamatkajaldighi Union Parishad Chairman and District Jamaat-e-Islami Youth and Sports Department President Tofail Pradhan. Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Zakir Hossain, District Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Iqbal Hossain, Union Jamaat Amir Yunus Ali, Tunirhat Bazar Banik Samity President Abdul Gani, General Secretary Shah Md Motahar Ali, Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Degree College Acting Principal Anisur Rahman Pradhan and others were present.
The speakers at the inaugural ceremony said that this tournament has been organized to turn the youth towards sports from drugs, online gambling casinos, mobile games, and mobile addiction. Through this game, social filth and subculture will be removed. Everyone will be game-oriented. Talent and thinking will develop. The organizers hope that the game will be held on a larger scale in the future.
The presence of locals around the game was noticeable. Football-loving spectators enjoyed a great competitive match.
This inter-district Goldtap football tournament is being held in collaboration with the district administration, upazila administration, Kamat Kajaldighi Union Parishad, Tunir Hat Bazar Merchants Association and Lal Tarun Sporting Club. Tunirhat Football XI President Nur Islam Nuru and General Secretary Hafizullah Pradhan are conducting the Jewel tournament.
