Five arrested with country-made weapons in attempt to rob donation box of Chandina Mokambari Jama Masjid

The Bangladesh Army has arrested five members of the Awami League-backed former mosque committee of Mokambari Jame Masjid and their supporters while creating a sabotage situation by the 3rd Bengal Regiment in Chandina, Comilla.

It is worth noting that on September 19, 2025, after Jumma prayers, members of the former mosque committee of Chandina Mokambari Jame Masjid and their supporters (supported by Awami League) entered the mosque with the intention of robbing the donation box. At that time, they caught and beat up those among the arriving Muslims who were protesting against the said criminal activities and misbehaved with the on-duty Imam and said that he would be paraded naked in public in Chandina Upazila.

Later, the said terrorist group got into a clash with their opposing group outside the mosque. Immediately after the matter was brought to the notice of the Chandina Army Camp, a joint operation was conducted under the leadership of the Camp Commander, ACLAND Chandina and the police and the main accused were successfully arrested.

The accused were identified by analyzing various pictures and video footage and arrested through a joint operation. The accused are Md. Shimul, Sharif Mia, Ariful Islam, Zafar Ali and Rabiul.

02 mobile phones, passports, national identity cards and 01 Swiss gear sharp knife were recovered from the arrested persons. Later, the recovered equipment and the arrested persons were handed over to the police at Chandina Police Station. Legal action has been taken against the accused at Chandina Police Station.
